Our Story

Catscat®, like most products, was born out of a frustration for cats and other creatures, digging up and fouling in our freshly sown flower beds and vegetable gardens.

We didn’t want a product that would take away from the aesthetics of our garden and would blend into the surroundings. In the 1990’s there was nothing like Catscat® available.

The originators of Catscat®, came up with this unique design and found that it was a great success. Cats simply did not like it.

Unfortunately, there is no law stopping pet owner’s cats from visiting your garden. Cats are protected by the ‘right to roam’. They are also seen as the pet owner’s property, so it is illegal to harm them in any way. This said, pet owners do have the responsibility to take care of the welfare of their feline friends, so a well-loved and cared for cat will have less reason to roam from home.

Is Catscat® dangerous to animals?

The Catscat packaging is 100% recyclable. Why not tear it up and add to your compost heap.

The Catscat mats are made from a semi-flexible plastic (HDPE 2) and is recyclable. HDPE stands for High density polyethylene, the same as Milk bottles, Hair and cleaning product bottles. If you no longer have use for your catscat product, please consider donating them to a local allotment or check with your local council before throwing in the plastic recycle bin. Thankfully most councils do recycle. HDPE 2 can be recycled into garden furnishings, litter-bins and piping.

Now we use the Catscat® in what we call “Poo-corner” a shady area of the garden where we’ve been trying to grow shade loving plants. The cats liked that corner because it has soft soil and they can see the whole garden from that point.
